Social responsibility

GreenGold Romania constantly seeks to include the principles of ethics and sustainability in its forest management practices, so that environment, social communities and society in general can benefit from them.

In 2022, Greengold Management Romania has been involved in social activities both at the national level, but also in the local communities near the managed or owned forests (e.g. Mirsid community – Bihor county, Cleja community – Bacau county). Through the almost 20 projects supported by the GreenGold companies, various social, health and educational projects were sponsored.

We have been contributing to two of these projects, aimed at helping children from Prahova and Suceava counties, since the beginning of the company, that is, for over 10 years. Through these sponsorship activities, Greengold Group wants to further ensure the development of local communities, to support social activities with major impact, as well as initiatives related to the protection of the environment and biodiversity.

Participation in research projects

In order to share our forest management experience with the professional and scientific community, GreenGold decided to participate in the European research project Informa together with 13 other European partners, universities and prestigious research institutes in Europe. The purpose of this project is to identify, understand and highlight the interaction between the best forestry management practices and the reduction of the effects of climate change so that this scientifically verified and validated information can be made available to the professional environment and to those who decide the forestry and environment policies.

Orientation towards local communities

In its forest management activity, GreenGold has developed economic relations with over 1000 companies, clients and suppliers. One of the important criteria in establishing these partnerships is the fact that they come from the local communities located in proximity of the properties in our portfolio. In this way, both carrying out forest tending activities or timber valorization, GreenGold encourages the development of local entrepreneurship and therefore keeping the economic benefits of these commercial relations as close to the forest as possible. Thus, giventhe fulfilment of GreenGold standards, local companies have priority over those from other regions.

Scholarships – practical training program

GreenGold has initiated a practical internship training program in collaboration with forestry universities in Brașov / Suceava / Timișoara / Cluj Napoca.

This program started in 2020 and until now, 31 students had the opportunity to apply in practice the theory taught in university. We are pleased that, after graduation, six of these former students have found their place in the GreenGold team, two of them in the last year (2022). We are also happy that of the six women participants, two are now our colleagues in GreenGold.
